Global Day of Action for Climate Justice – 17 November
Every year on 17 November, the SLPC participates in the Global Day of Action for Climate Justice – a standing date in the academic calendar and an opportunity for students to take the lead in raising awareness about climate justice across campus and beyond.
Past initiatives have included film screenings and panel debates, hackathons, social media campaigns, and student-authored articles in LSE Law School’s Ratio magazine. The format changes each year: it is student-led, and the SLPC’s role is to support and amplify whatever students choose to organise.
The theme for Global Day of Action 2026 is “High Tech/Low Tech - Adaptations and Solutions?”
As debate grows over AI, data centres, and their climate impact, this year’s Global Day of Action theme invites exploration of the relationship between law and technology in all its forms. From regulating emerging technologies to unlocking their potential for positive change, the possibilities are wide-ranging.
The focus is not only on high-tech innovation, but also on simple, practical solutions: reducing water use with stones, repurposing plastic bottles for irrigation, or promoting repair over disposal. How can law help create the conditions for these approaches to thrive?
The theme is deliberately broad. Take it in whatever direction inspires and empowers you. Small actions, taken together, can make a big impact.
