Welcome to the Department of Geography and Environment! We're looking forward to welcoming you to LSE this autumn.

Below you'll find all the Welcome events you can attend as a Geography and Environment master's student.

Please note that events may be subject to change. We'll keep this page up to date with the latest information.

You can find the schedule on this page and in your calendar on the Student Hub app. Be sure to download the app before Welcome begins.

MSc Welcome Schedule

Geography and Environment Department Welcome

10-11.30am | Sheikh Zayed Theatre (lower ground floor, Cheng Kin Ku Building)

Start your journey with the Department of Geography and Environment! Meet the academics and professional services staff who will support you throughout your time here, hear a welcome from the Head of Department, and get an introduction to what you can expect as part of our vibrant community.

This session is for all new Geography and Environment students.


Programme Welcomes

Meet your Programme Director and Programme Coordinator and find out what to expect in the weeks ahead. This session is for all new students on your programme and is compulsory to attend.

MSc Course Selection Information Session

Join our MSc Programme Coordinators for an information session on the MSc course selection process.


MSc Programme Coordinators Drop-in

2-5pm | CKK 3.26 (third floor, Cheng Kin Ku Building)

Come along to this informal drop-in and say hello to your Programme Coordinator. Ask any administrative questions you may have about the programme.

Campus Enrolment

12.45-2.15pm | Foyer (Marshall Building)

Please remember that you will not be able to campus enrol unless you bring all the required in-date original documents with you to Campus Enrolment. Here is what you will need to bring.

Treasure Hunt

11am-1pm

We're excited to invite all new MSc students to take part in a Treasure Hunt.

Working in teams, you'll race against other groups to complete as many fun challenges as possible while exploring some of central London's most iconic landmarks.

It's a fantastic way to meet fellow students, make new friends, and discover London along the way!

The Presidential Welcome Address

3-4pm | Peacock Theatre

Join classmates from across LSE in the Peacock Theatre to celebrate becoming part of LSE. You'll hear about what LSE can offer you from President Larry Kramer, Vice President for Education Emma McCoy, and Students' Union General Secretary Amara Jane Otero Salgado.

  • Bring your LSE ID card (or your pre-enrolment letter to show on your phone if you don't have your ID yet) - you'll need it to enter.
  • Arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before your start time; sessions run back-to-back and doors can't open sooner.
  • Attend your scheduled session only. Capacity is planned carefully, and going along to a different session could cost someone else their seat.

Games Night

Meet classmates and unwind with arcade classics, ping pong, foosball, pool, air hockey, plus board & card games!

G&E Welcome Party

6-8pm | Great Hall, Marshall Building

Socialise with fellow Geography and Environment students and department staff over drinks and nibbles.

This event is for all Geography and Environment students.

Consent.Ed

The Consent.Ed programme explores issues around sexual consent, providing an opportunity for us to discuss how we can look out for one another and create a positive, respectful consent culture, where everyone feels safe on campus.

Level 1 and Level 2 Consent.Ed is mandatory for all new students at LSE, across all levels of study.

Completion status will be monitored by our Consent.Ed Team, and you will be contacted directly if you do not complete your training.
