Quatuor Agate

Hosted by the LSE Arts Lunchtime Concert Series
Shaw Library, 6th Floor, Old Building
Thursday 16 Nov 2023 1.05pm - 2pm

The Quatuor Agate were prize-winners in the 2021 YCAT International Auditions. Highlights this season include debut recitals at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Alte OperFrankfurt and a tour across the UK.

Formed in 2016, the Paris-based Quatuor Agate studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. All four members of the Agate are from the South of France. It was their love for Berlin, and it’s rich and dynamic culture that brought them together as a Quartet. The Quartet were prize-winners at the 2022 Banff International Competition (Canadian Commission Prize), the 2019 Verbier Festival Academy, and the 2020 Steels-Wilsing Foundation Competition at the Heidelberger Frühling Festival.

Join us to hear from Adrien Jurkovic (violin), Thomas Descamps (violin), Raphaël Pagnon (viola) and Simon Iachemet (cello).

Performance to include:

String Quartet in C Minor, op 51 No.1- Brahms

String Quartet No.6- Bartok

The next lunchtime concert is on Thursday 23 November and will be performed by Alice Neary and Viv McLean.

Join the LSE Choir and Orchestra on Tuesday 5 December for the LSE Christmas Concert in the beautiful surroundings of St Clement Danes Church.

More about this event

Just economics and politics? Think again. While LSE does not teach arts or music, there is a vibrant cultural side to the School - from weekly free music concerts in the Shaw Library, and an LSE orchestra and choir with their own professional conductors, various film, art and photographic student societies and regular public exhibitions.
