Professor Denisa Kostovicova celebrated for award-winning research
This Winter Term, Professor Denisa Kostovicova took home three prizes for her research, including an article co-authored with Dr Vesna Popovski.
Our Professor in Global Politics Denisa Kostovicova’s research offers a novel approach to evaluating the effects of transitional justice in post-conflict societies through the examination of the Balkan conflicts.
Her book, Reconciliation by Stealth, advances a novel approach to evaluating the effects of transitional justice in post-conflict societies through the examination of the Balkan conflicts. Bringing together theories of democratic deliberation and peacebuilding, she demonstrates that respectful and empathetic deliberation across ethnic lines can foster reconciliation, by expanding moral horizons and countering divisive identity politics. The book points to the untapped potential of deliberative problem-solving in transitional justice to repair relationships fractured by conflict.
