Jodie has joined CPEC as an NIHR School for Social Care Research (SSCR) career development awardee where she is supporting a variety of projects at the centre. Her research interests include applying harm reduction approaches to substance misuse interventions, the intersection of mental health and homelessness, frontline staff burnout and the impact on service delivery, and the integration of social and health care models at a practice level.
Jodie holds a BA in Psychology from McGill University in Montreal and an MA in Social Work from the University of Greenwich. During her master’s studies, she gained frontline experience in both children’s and adult social care through placements in the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and No Recourse to Public Funds team and the hospital discharge team at King's College Hospital.
Before transitioning into research, Jodie worked as a social worker on an inpatient eating disorders ward in London. Jodie also has 5 years of experience working in the not for profit and voluntary sector in Canada, where she served in various roles including as a social services assistant, child and family worker, early childhood educator assistant, and community worker.
Jodie’s master’s dissertation focused on the effective application of trauma-informed approaches with children in care. She later adapted this work to the hospital discharge context and has delivered professional presentations on conducting trauma-informed needs assessments. Jodie is passionate about bridging research and practice to improve outcomes for service users and support the wellbeing of frontline practitioners.
