Bloomberg City Hall Fellowships

The Bloomberg City Hall Fellowships provide an opportunity for outstanding graduates from LSE and the Hertie School to work directly within city governments across Europe. Over a six-month placement, Fellows contribute to high-priority innovation projects that build on the work already undertaken through the Bloomberg LSE European City Leadership Initiative, helping cities turn ambitious ideas into tangible results for residents.

Each Fellow are embedded within a host city hall, working alongside experienced civil servants on challenges linked to the city’s strategic priorities. By combining world-class educational with specific training in city government innovation, Fellows help strengthen cities’ capacity to design, deliver, and scale innovative solutions, while gaining first-hand insight into the realities of public sector leadership and urban change.

The Fellowships create lasting benefits for both Fellows and cities. Host cities gain additional expertise and dedicated project support, while Fellows develop valuable professional skills, expand their international networks, and make a meaningful contribution to public service. Through this partnership between universities and city governments, the Fellowships aim to cultivate the next generation of urban leaders and advance innovation across Europe's cities.
