Many researchers are interested in seeing their work used beyond academia but are unsure how to access relevant opportunities or what applied or consulting work actually involves. At LSE Consulting, we work with academic across the School to bring rigorous, evidence-based insight into projects for public, provate and third sector clients worldwide. OppsLink was created to make these connections clearer, more visible and easier to explore, while reaching a broader range of experts across disciplines and career stages.

OppsLink is an online platform that shares consulting opportunities across a wide range of research topics. It allows academics, early career researchers (ECRs) and PhD students to see where their expertise could be relevant, whether they are actively looking to get involved or simply want to stay informed about what consultancy work at LSE looks like in practice.

The platform brings together a range of both long-term and short-term opportunities, including projects LSE Consulting is developing or bidding for. By presenting these opportunities in one place, OppsLink gives researchers a clearer view of how academic expertise can contribute to real‑world challenges and decision‑making.

OppsLink is designed to be simple and flexible to use. Researchers and academics can browse opportunities linked to their subject areas, learn more about the types of clients and projects LSE Consulting works on, register their interest in specific areas, and choose whether to receive occasional email updates. Signing up does not commit experts to taking part in any project. Many use the platform as a way to explore possibilities and build understanding over time.

For those new to consultancy, OppsLink offers a low-pressure way to see how academic skills translate into applied work. For more experienced academics, it provides visibility of projects that may align with their expertise,  interests and availability.

The platform also reflects LSE Consulting’s commitment to transparency and collaboration. By sharing information about the work we are pursuing, we aim to make opportunities more accessible and inclusive across LSE’s academic community.

Javiera Menchaca, Development Manager at LSE Consulting, says:

We are excited about expanding our service offering and connecting with researchers and academics we may not typically reach, especially those who are interested in consultancy but aren’t sure where to begin.

As OppsLink continues to develop, our focus remains on offering support at different career stages and strengthening the link between academic expertise and applied work. Our aim is for experts to feel informed,  connected and confident about engaging with consultancy on their own terms.
