Nominations open for Global Alumni Board and Regional Liaison Committee
Calling all LSE alumni: The LSE Alumni Association needs you!
With over 240,000 alumni spread across the globe, the LSE Alumni Association is made up of a diverse community working across a range of public, private and non-governmental sectors.
The Association represents the interests of all of you - our LSE alumni - and helps to strengthen and deepen the relationships between the School and its alumni, and between alumni themselves.
We are very fortunate that so many of our alumni give their time and expertise to support LSE and its alumni, students and faculty. The members of the Global Alumni Board (GAB), the Regional Liaison Committee officers (RLC) and the leads of more than 130 regional groups, and professional and inclusion networks, are critical to this work.
Our alumni community is one of LSE’s greatest strengths and the Global Alumni Board and Regional Liaison Committee play a critical role in keeping this extraordinary network connected, engaged and empowered. Their leadership helps ensure that alumni expertise continues to enrich the School, supports our students and faculty, and strengthens the ties that bind our global community together.
Nominations for the 2026-2029 Alumni Association Global Alumni Board and Regional Liaison Committee are now open
The term of office for members of the Global Alumni Board and the Regional Liaison Committee Officers is three years. New terms will begin this September, and we are now actively seeking nominations for these key volunteer roles.
Thomas Kern (MSc Public Policy and Administration 1979), current Chair of the LSE Association and the Global Alumni Board, explains that "LSE alumni are full partners with the School, with its students, faculty and staff. And that community is a very important element to foster and sustain." He sees the Board as the bridge between LSE alumni and the School.
Alumni interested in applying to sit on the GAB or on the RLC can nominate themselves. You can nominate yourself for more than one position but please note you can only be appointed to one role. Nominations close Tuesday 24 March 2026 at 11:59 PM GMT.
Global Alumni Board leadership roles
The Global Alumni Board (GAB) has four leadership positions that support our global volunteer community:
- The Chair of the LSE Alumni Association and its Global Alumni Board is one of the School’s most senior alumni volunteer leaders. The Chair is the primary outward face of alumni, the Association and the GAB.
- The Vice Chair serves on behalf of the LSE Alumni Association and the Global Alumni Board and is the primary inward, operational face of the GAB.
- The Regional Liaison Committee Co-Chairs (x2) lead on strategy implementation, and activity related to the support and management of recognised alumni groups, networks and regional officers.
Global Alumni Board member roles
In addition to the four leadership positions above there are an additional eight member roles on the Global Alumni Board. These board members are an essential conduit between LSE and the alumni community; through their work they connect alumni to the School and its strategy, and in turn ensure the School connects with the community and understands its needs.

Regional Liaison Committee officer roles
The Regional Liaison Committee officers play a vital role in building and deepening connections between the extensive recognised LSE alumni regional groups and professional networks, and the School. These officers act as conduit for LSE to connect alumni to the School and its strategy, and to highlight the community’s needs. In turn, they act as key advocates for the LSE, helping to amplify LSE’s voice and message around the world.
As Regional Liaison Officer for Europe I support the amazing work that the alumni groups all over the continent are doing in terms of alumni engagement, volunteering, networking and career opportunities and advice. It's a pleasure for me to help by being a bridge between these alumni groups and the university.

The LSE Alumni Association
All LSE alumni who have completed a full term of study at LSE as a registered student are members of the LSE Alumni Association. We are very grateful to all of them who so generously give their time and expertise to LSE. Our alumni are united by, and stay connected through, a shared mission to understand the causes of things for the betterment of society. They are the practitioners on the front line tackling many of the urgent challenges facing us today.
The LSE Alumni Association is governed by the LSE Alumni Association Constitution.
