About me

Marta is Assistant Professor at ISCTE-IUL, Lisbon University Institute. She is a former Marie Curie Fellow at LSE (2016-2018) and was previously a Fulbright Scholar at Cornel University (USA) (2015-2016). 

Marta is the lead researcher for the international projects ‘MORE-PE: Mobilising Resources for Public Engagement’ (2016-2020), and OPEN 'Organisational Public Engagement with Science and Technology' (2019-2023), funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). These studies are being implemented by teams in Portugal, Italy, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, the USA, Turkey, Brazil, Japan, Taiwan and China. Marta also conducts research on scientists’ practices and perceptions of public engagement. In particular, she works with the International Astronomical Union (IAU) where she chairs the working group ‘Science Communication Research in Astronomy’ under Division C Commission C2 (Communicating Astronomy with the Public).
