About me

Anthony Miro Born is a sociologist and housing researcher with a particular interest in social inequality. He currently holds an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Methodology.

Miro’s writing has been published in leading sociology and urban studies journals, including Urban Studies, The Sociological Review and city: analysis of urban change, theory, action. His article ‘The Long Shadow of Territorial Stigma’ has been awarded the Best Article Award 2023 for the most innovative and agenda-setting article in Urban Studies. Miro’s monograph Social Ladders isunder contract with Oxford University Press. Together with illustrator Irem Kurt, he has also created a comic about his research: MOVIN' ON UP: A Social Mobility Comic.

Miro holds a PhD from the Department of Sociology, London School of Economics and Political Science. Before joining LSE, Miro has taught and worked at Humboldt University of Berlin, University of Potsdam, and Technical University of Berlin.
