The Centre aims to build on its success by expanding its activities, diversifying its research and educational mission, and strengthening its public outreach to address emerging challenges facing Greece and Cyprus in their European and global context. Key focus areas include the social impacts of artificial intelligence, industrial policy, productivity, geoeconomic fragmentation, environmental sustainability, demographic change, democratic quality, civil society, and social justice.
To achieve this, we aim to raise £2 million in new philanthropic support by 2030. This support will enable us to advance our work in the following areas:
- Raise research talent: Establish an early career fellowship scheme and academic exchange programme, supporting visiting researchers to collaborate with LSE peers and enhance policy engagement.
- Facilitate research excellence:Expand funding for innovative, exploratory projects that strengthen the international research profile of Greece and Cyprus.
- Produce impactful evidence base: Create up to two fixed-term mid-career academic posts to lead new research areas, including political sociology, environment and energy, gender, and education.
- Build for the future: Establish a new endowed lectureship to complement the Eleftherios Venizelos Chair and support the Centre’s leadership and long-term development.
