Hellenic Observatory Research Innovation Programme

In 2025 the Hellenic Observatory launched an exciting research initiative with a the Research Innovation Programme on Greece and Cyprus.

The Research Innovation Programme on Greece & Cyprus was established with the generous support of the A.G. Leventis Foundation. Building on the significant achievements of the past six years—through the A.G. Leventis Research Innovation Programme on Cyprus and the Hellenic Observatory Research Calls Programme on Greece—the Programme aims to deepen understanding of contemporary Greece and Cyprus, foster international research collaboration, and generate insights with direct policy relevance.

Through its annual calls, the Programme supports research projects that address critical questions concerning the economies, politics, and societies of Greece and Cyprus. The selection of projects and publication of findings take place through a rigorous peer-review process, conducted by the academic staff of the Centre in collaboration with the dedicated Research Advisory Group.

In line with the recent development of the Hellenic Observatory into the new LSE Centre for Research on Contemporary Greece and Cyprus, the Research Innovation Programme on Greece & Cyprus embodies the Centre’s mission to promote high-quality, policy-relevant research on contemporary Greece and Cyprus, and to foster new thinking and informed debate on the key public policy challenges facing both countries, nationally and internationally.
