About me

Alexander Michaelides is a Professor of Finance at Imperial Business School since 2013, and currently also serves as the Director of Post-Graduate Studies (Ph.D. program). He has previously served as Head of the Finance Department (2014-2021). He was previously a lecturer (2001-2006) and associate professor (2006-2010) at the Department of Economics, London School of Economics, and a professor of finance at the Department of Finance, University of Cyprus (2010-2013). He was a Wim Duisenberg Research Fellow at the European Central Bank (2012), and a senior researcher at the Central Bank of Cyprus (2009-2010). He was also a non-Executive Director at the Board of the Central Bank of Cyprus between May and November 2013. His research lies in the broad areas of household finance, portfolio choice and macro-finance using primarily a heterogeneous agent micro-to-macro modelling approach. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University (1997) and a B.A. in Economics from Harvard (1993).
