Impact of coronavirus on our operations
Unfortunately, the LSE Choir and LSE Orchestra won’t be running during the Michaelmas Term due to Covid-19. The LSESU Music Society supports LSE's decision to ensure the safety of all students and members. We are still evaluating how we can support the other music groups to function wherever possible, taking into account the guidance from the UK government and LSE. Please follow our social media pages to keep up to date with our activities and decisions!
The LSE Orchestra is open to all students, staff and alumni. The orchestra and choir will give two evening concerts one in the Michaelmas term and one in the Lent term. Orchestra rehearsals take place in the Shaw Library, 6th Floor, Old Building, on Monday evenings, 6.45pm – 9pm during Michaelmas and Lent term. The conductor is Matthew Taylor. Orchestra members are asked to attend rehearsals regularly.
The LSE Choir is open to all students, staff and alumni. The choir takes part in two evening concerts and gives three lunchtime recitals during each academic year. Choir rehearsals take place in the Shaw Library, 6th Floor, Old Building, on Tuesday evenings, 6pm – 7.30pm. The chorus master is Andrew Campling. Singers are asked to attend rehearsals regularly, and should have some ability to read music.
Please note Both rehearsals take place in the Shaw Library, 6th floor, Old Building with orchestra rehearsals lasting from 6.45pm to 9.00pm and choir rehearsals taking place between 6.00pm and 7.30pm.
