To achieve legitimate, representative, democratic governance understanding voting power and voting procedures is foundational. In modern democracies, electoral systems must capture and combine individual voter preferences to elect the most representative candidates. When voters must choose between three or more candidates to elect a single winner, we collide head-on with the core problem of voting theory in social choice.
