Teaching Assistant opportunities

[Applications for TAs are not open]

The LSE-PKU Summer School programme aims to build on, and deepen, LSE’s partnership with PKU, as well as provide opportunities for LSE’s faculty and students to study contemporary China/Asia from within the exciting city of Beijing.

All courses are taught in English and LSE faculty lead and teach about half of the courses on the LSE-PKU Summer School, most of which have a strong China focus. The Summer School is taught intensively over two weeks with students attending one course throughout the whole fortnight. Courses normally comprise 36 hours of lectures and 12 hours of classes, assessed through a written essay and closed-book exam. The LSE-PKU Summer School typically attracts more than 400 students and from 40 countries, around a quarter of whom are graduate professionals working in a wide variety of fields.

TAs attend and provide support in the morning lectures and then lead the afternoon classes, as well as contribute to marking and assessment. TAs have additional responsibilities for student support and planning. In addition to the salary of around £1,500, flights and accommodation for the duration of the programme are included, and we are happy to assist TAs in gaining access to faculty, PhD students or other resources at PKU which may assist in their research and career development.
