2018年6月28日，由伦敦商务孔子学院主办的“跨文化交际中的挑战”主题讲座于伦敦政治经济学院新学术中心正式召开。本次讲座的演讲嘉宾是作家Véronique Michel 女士，伦敦商务孔子学院英方院长Dr Neil McLean主持此次活动。
讲座围绕“为什么我们要对其他文化感兴趣？”以及“跨文化知识对我们的工作和商务往来有何益处？”展开。讲座中，Véronique Michel 女士用生动的方式向观众展示了中文、英语、德语、法语和日语的差异，详细比较了这几种语言背后的文化内涵。除此之外，Véronique Michel 女士鼓励观众更深入地了解中国语言及其文化—这在日益全球化的世界中尤为重要。

On 28 June 2018, the lecture “The challenges of cross-cultural communication”, held by the Confucius Institute for Business London (CIBL), took place in LSE New Academic Building. The event was chaired by Dr Neil McLean, the UK Director of Confucius Institute for Business London. Ms Véronique Michel (author) was the guest speaker.
The lecture investigated the questions——“Why should we be interested in other cultures?” and “Can this knowledge be useful at the workplace and for business?”
During the lecture, Ms Véronique Michel showed audience the differences in Chinese, English, German, French and Janpanese in a lively way, made a detailed comparison of cultural connotations of those languages in cultural communication. What’s more, Ms Véronique Michel encouraged the audience to develop a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and language. Such understanding is important in an increasingly globalised world.
The mutual discussion after the speech was also a highlight of the evening, the atmosphere was lively and the participants got to engage with the topic from different angles, thanks to Ms Véronique Michel.
