Mental Health Day at WPS

Healing minds and honouring roots

To mark World Mental Health Day 2025, the Centre for Women, Peace and Security hosted an event with EmpoweredMindOrg in collaboration with the UN Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund.

HMHRThe impact of conflict, online harms, and gender-based violence are adding to the mental health pressures affecting many within our diverse communities. This is particularly affecting young people as they navigate the challenges around education, employment, and family life, they now often find themselves with extra layers of uncertainty, anxiety, and instability.

This event showcased the response of a London-based organisation to the mental health challenges facing a community affected by war, displacement, and trauma. EmpoweredMindOrg promotes mental health awareness, resilience, and community wellbeing in the UK and in Afghanistan.

Founder and author Sara Nazim is a mental health advocate with a background in Psychology and Clinical neuroscience, who shared her work and the importance of prioritising mental health in peace and security contexts.
