An effective CV is essential for conveying to a potential employer what you can offer and securing you an interview. Come along to this seminar to understand what employers are looking for, the different CV formats available and how to make yourself stand out as a General Course student.

Whether you’re writing your CV from scratch or updating an existing version, there are some fundamental guidelines around structure, content and layout that will ensure your CV stands out. Learn how to tailor your CV to emphasise your match with your target organisation or role and how to use language that is powerful and compelling. In addition to practical tips for making the most of your CV, the session will focus on ways that you can present your time on the General Course in a way that that appeals to employers and universities.

This event will be particularly useful if you:

  • are developing your CV from scratch or looking to revise an existing version
  • interested in learning about how to talk about your time on the General Course on your CV
  • want to learn some tools and techniques to ensure your CV stands out.

Attending this event will enable you to:

  • be clear about different CV formats and which one is most appropriate for you
  • communicate effectively what you can offer
  • be confident in identifying employers’ requirements.

Following this session you may like to use CareerSet, an online tool that uses AI technology to scan your CV, or book a one-to-one appointment with an LSE Careers adviser to get further guidance. You can also find useful job application resources, including templates for CVs and cover letters, on the LSE Careers webpages.

From time to time there are changes to event details so we strongly recommend checking back on this listing on the day of the event if you plan to attend.
