A warm welcome to Department visitor Dr Francesca Torti

We are delighted to welcome Dr Francesca Torti as a visitor to the Department this term. Francesca, who works on trade data analysis and anti-fraud at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, is being hosted by Professor Irini Moustaki.

Francesca will be with us until the end of March and she will be working on the extension of her correlation-based analysis of international trade into a causal framework. Her main application areas include monitoring compliance with trade sanctions on Russia and assessing the impact of tariffs introduced by the US on trade flows. She is also exploring ways to improve the design of questionnaires used by the European Union in its regular public consultations.

Francesca also plans to participate in an event at Europe House, and on campus.
