SEAC supports students with dedicated funding
opportunities, events, and mentoring.

I am extremely grateful that I have access to the rare opportunity of working as a research assistant. Through the URF I am developing important transferable skills such as project planning, liaising, and many others. The programme is especially valuable since I am able to learn practical research skills and refine my thought process, on top of gaining subject-specific knowledge.

Southeast Asia Student Dissertation Fieldwork Grant

This grant is for current LSE undergraduate and taught master’s students for field research in the Southeast Asia region as part of their assessed dissertation. The funding may contribute towards travel expenses and on-site research expenses, up to a maximum of £500 per applicant.

SEAC Undergraduate Research Fellowship

SEAC's Undergraduate Research Fellowship scheme seeks to engage LSE undergraduate students with the research of SEAC's Centre Associates. Undergraduate Research Fellows (URFs) are expected to gain important insight into the work of an academic in planning, conducting and disseminating scholarly research.

Postgraduate Dissertation Prize

The Postgraduate Dissertation Prize celebrates and showcases outstanding social science research on Southeast Asia from postgraduate students across the LSE.

SEAC PhD Research Support Fund

The PhD Research Support Fund provides funding toward field research expenses in Southeast Asia (maximum £4,000) and conference attendance (maximum £1000) for LSE PhD students whose research relates to Southeast Asia.

SEAC Café

The SEAC Café is a scheme open to all LSE students and consists of group sessions for students to discuss and learn from LSE based SEAC associates on a variety of different topics.
