LSE Festival 2026: Food futures
Tuesday 23 June 2026

Our current food system is a leading cause of biodiversity loss and global warming. At the LSE Festival 2026, a panel of experts in sustainability, health and wellbeing discussed the ethical, logistical, and technical challenges of transitioning to a more planet-friendly food system. The video of the event is now available online.
Scientists agree we cannot reach our climate targets without significantly changing diets heavy in animal products. However, food choice can be complex and controversial, and it’s unclear how to move dietary change up the policy agenda, or where and when to intervene to ensure a ‘just transition’. More about the event.
Panel:
- Chris Bryant (Founder and Executive Director of Bryant Research)
- Tara Garnett (University of Oxford)
- Feiyang Wang (Jeremy Coller Centre for Animal Sentience)
- Anthony Warner (chef and author)
- Chair: Jonathan Birch (Philosophy Department and Jeremy Coller Centre for Animal Sentience)
