Title: Locating Quantum Parts and Wholes
Speaker: Professor Claudio Calosi (Ca' Foscari University, Venice)
Abstract: Recent arguments from quantum theories (from non-relativistic quantum mechanics to quantum theories of gravity) have challenged widely held (and considerably weak) inheritance principles about locations of parts and wholes. I explore several strategies to deal with such quantum challenges before landing on a very general one. Such general strategy requires what can be considered a relatively minor adjustment in our formal theories of parthood and location (but still an adjustment).
