About

Lauren Bachynski is a PhD student in the Department of International Relations at LSE. Her research examines cooperation as a strategy for increasing international status and explores how domestic political dynamics influence leaders to pursue status-seeking strategies of cooperation rather than conflict. By analysing these dynamics and their relationship to status, her work seeks to provide insights into how states can achieve valued goals and outcomes while promoting international stability.

Before beginning her PhD, Lauren worked as a Research Consultant in New York City and has extensive experience in research and strategy, including more than thirteen years as part of a global consulting team advising Fortune 500 companies.

Lauren holds an MSc in Behavioural Science (Distinction) from LSE, where her research focused on prosocial decision-making and behaviour. She also holds an M.I.D and BA in Economics from the University of Manitoba, Canada.
