About

Kieran Oberman is a political philosopher working on applied ethics, distributive justice, migration and just war theory. Prior to joining LSE in 2022, he held positions at the University of Edinburgh, Université Pompeu Fabra (as a Marie Skłodowska‑Curie fellow), University College Dublin, the Asian University for Women, Stanford University, the Catholic University of Louvain and Jesus College, Oxford.

Besides his academic work, Kieran likes to contribute to public debate. He has written opinion pieces and essays for a range of media platforms, including openDemocracy, The World Economic Forum, and the Institute of Art and Ideas. He hosted the podcast series Migration Ethics and his work on refugee policy was featured in Research for the World. Perhaps his most ambitious project to date was turning his peer reviewed article, Killing and Rescuing, into a show at the Edinburgh Fringe.
