Dr. Jessica Northey is Assistant Professor at the Centre for Peace and Security at Coventry University. She was Director of Postgraduate Research from 2018-2020 and Principal Investigator of the British Academy funded Youth Futures Algeria project from 2020-2022. Jessica gained her PhD from the European University Institute, Florence, Italy, studying relations between Algerian charitable associations and the EU. Based on extensive fieldwork, this was published as a book "Civil Society in Algeria" in 2018 by I.B.Tauris with a new, revised edition in 2023. She has published in international journals including Democratization, Third world Quarterly, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, and the British Journal of Middle East Studies.
