James is a PhD candidate at the LSE Law School. His research concerns the constitutional role of the public service in Westminster systems.
Immediately before commencing doctoral study, he was a Principal Solicitor at the New South Wales Crown Solicitor’s Office, practising primarily in constitutional law, public sector law and electoral law. Before that, he worked at the High Court of Australia and at the New South Wales Court of Appeal. He has also taught political and legal philosophy, constitutional law, and criminal law theory at the University of Sydney and the Australian National University.
He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Sydney, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons I) and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons I and the University Medal).
