Dr Isaac H Ziaba is a Visiting Research Fellow in the Department of Methodology.
With a bachelor's degree in Political Science (University of Ghana, 2012), an MSc in International Conflict and Cooperation (University of Stirling, 2014), and a PhD in International Development (LSE, 2022), Isaac conducts interdisciplinary research on resource governance.
He previously held a teaching and research postdoctoral fellowship in the Methodology Department at LSE (2022-2025).
Research
Isaac specialises in resource governance in Africa. While working as a postdoctoral fellow at LSE (2022-2025), he won and executed the British Academy/Leverhulme Small Research Grant (2023-2025).
He is currently completing research papers on the following topics:
- Patterns in political parties’ responses to informal miners.
- Political connections, state capture, and transnational investment disputes.
- The politics of forced eviction in China-Africa relations.
- Chinese companies’ interactions with host mining communities.
As a Visiting Fellow, Isaac will extend his research on resource governance, focusing on critical minerals and green transition, while exploring new research topics on ethnic conflicts, secessionism, and territorial integrity.
