About

Dr Richard Tran is a General Practitioner with a special interest in health inequalities and health policy.

Based in Glasgow, he has experience across clinical medicine, research and health policy, including roles within the Scottish Government and the World Health Organization. He holds a distinction in the MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing, jointly offered by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). His work sits at the intersection of clinical practice and policy analysis, with a focus on how health systems can deliver more equitable access to care.

As a Visiting Fellow at LSE Health, Dr Tran is undertaking research on variation in access to GLP-1 based therapies across the UK. His primary project involves a comparative analysis of eligibility criteria across the four UK nations, examining differences in guidance and their political, economic and equity implications. He will also contribute to broader research on global inequalities in access to these therapies using large-scale international datasets.

Through this fellowship, Dr Tran aims to contribute to ongoing work on health system performance, equity and access, while strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration between clinical practice and academic research.
