About
Dr Daniel Guillery teaches and conducts research in moral and political philosophy. In his recent work, he has been interested in the moral claims that can be made to the use or control of land and space.
His current research project aims to put forward an account of land-related wrongdoing that does not depend on proprietorial claims over territory, and to use this to shed light on a number of topics of practical political concern (including gentrification, tourism, migration and so on). He has been particularly interested in injustices at the local level of a neighbourhood or city (where collective territorial claims are less commonly asserted). Areas of interest more broadly include culture, state legitimacy, property rights and anarchism.
Previously, he has worked in the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick, the University of Chicago Law School, and the philosophy and EISPS departments at University College London. He completed his PhD in political philosophy at UCL.
His work has been published in journals including Politics, Philosophy and Economics; the Journal of Ethics and Social Philosophy and Social Theory and Practice.
