Christos Zois is a Exchange PhD Researcher from the Sciences Po School of Law in Paris, where he works under the supervision of Professor Alain Pottage. His research tries to unravel the role of narratives of temporality, and especially futurity, in international climate change law by focusing on the legal foundations of the rights of future generations. By discussing the -traditionally invisible- role of time as international law device, his research explores how the future generations’ discourse perpetuates oppressive legalities while excluding other alternative/marginalised legal approaches.
Christos holds a Master in International Law from the Geneva Graduate Institute (2024), a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International and European Legal Studies with a concentration on Public International Law from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (summa cum laude, 2022) and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2020).
He has been a Legal Assistant to the International Law Commission since 2023 focusing on sea-level rise in international law and state succession in international responsibility and and was the main researcher of the Jean Monnet Project EURIS of the Kalliopi Koufa Foundation for the Promotion of International and Human Rights Law, focusing on the responsibility of the European Union under various areas of international law.
