About

Anna Elkina completed her PhD in Economics and Business Administration at the University of Turku, Finland, where she continued working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship. In her doctoral autoethnographic study she examined how the identity work of a migrant woman unfolds through an entrepreneurial journey. Anna’s research focuses on entrepreneurial identity, migrant entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurship education, exploring how entrepreneurial activities intersect with broader life experiences. She draws on feminist perspectives and seeks to challenge and expand existing understandings of entrepreneurship and to contribute to more inclusive and socially aware approaches to entrepreneurial research and education.

As a doctoral and postdoctoral researcher, Anna has been involved in research and policy development projects aimed at improving working and entrepreneurship opportunities for migrants in Finland. She has also contributed to critical entrepreneurship education studies and to the development of educational innovations within the TREE project (Erasmus+). She has applied a critical approach in her own teaching within sustainable and social entrepreneurship programmes. In her current research, conducted in the UK and Finland, Anna examines how migrants’ liminal experiences shape and frame the practices of entrepreneuring.
