Research topic:

Care equity for children with disabilities and unpaid carers

Ana is a PhD student researching equity in social care for children, with a focus on the wellbeing of children with disabilities and unpaid family carers in Mexico. Her research is developing an account of care equity and using mixed methods to investigate equity outcomes considering socioeconomic factors, resources and social norms. Before starting her PhD, she worked at the Economic Policy Research Institute, where she led global research for UNICEF on child poverty and universal child benefits. She conducted further social protection research and advisory work for the African Development Bank, the Van Leer Foundation and UN-DESA. Ana’s earlier work in academic institutions in Mexico includes research on women’s participation in business and politics in Latin America, and teaching qualitative research methods. She holds an MSc in Development Management from the Department of International Development at the London School of Economics and is funded by an LSE Studentship.
