About
Alice started her ESRC-funded PhD at the LSE Department of Gender Studies in 2025. Her project explores the role of ‘communities’ in political economies of care and welfare, through researching ‘community empowerment’ agendas and practices in English local government. She is interested in critically engaging with concepts related to communities, participation, empowerment, care and welfare, and analysing scales of governance. These research interests are theoretically grounded in interdisciplinary scholarship broadly focused on feminist political economy and feminist epistemology- and are shaped by her practical experiences managing, delivering, supporting and evaluating community-based and participatory projects across the UK.
Alice holds an MSc in Gender, Policy and Inequalities from the LSE, and a BA in Geography from the University of Cambridge. She previously worked as a senior researcher at The Young Foundation, and continues to support their work as an associate.
