The success of our teaching here in PBS depends on a dialogue between students and teachers, a collaboration which helps both you and us to excel. We want ensure that students voices are heard.
There are a number of ways to voice your views, including becoming a student representative for your programme. Elected student representatives (known as SSLC representatives) are the voice for fellow peers on their programme, taking any issues or suggestions raised to higher levels within the school, known as the LSE Consultative Forum.
An added benefit of being a student rep is that you gain insight into how decisions in universities are made, alongside building skills that will be beneficial in your career. If you are joining PBS in the next academic year, look out for the opportunity to become a student rep for your programme.
If you want to find out who the student rep is for your programme, please visit your Moodle page for details and contact information.
You said...We did
Sometimes a change can be implemented straight away. But other times a change may take some time to filter through the School’s system and so will only have an impact on generations of students after those who proposed the change.
Here are some examples of the changes we have made in response to student comments in recent years – what You said, and what We did as a result;
YOU SAID...you wanted more time to talk about your work
WE DID..we have doubled our office hours including adding meetings for one-to-one tutorials to discuss feedback
YOU SAID...you wanted to be listened to and heard more
WE DID...in addition to our Staff-Student Liaison Committee and Departmental Teaching Committee, we have introduced meetings between student representatives and Programme Directors and Programme Managers
YOU SAID...you wanted a stronger learning community
WE DID...we have introduced programme-specific seminars that give you the chance to interact with teachers and peers and learn in a relaxed informal environment
YOU SAID...you wanted more information on the process of choosing half units
WE DID ...we have provided details on how we decide to offer places on-line at the point of choice
YOU SAID...you wanted more guidance on your dissertations
