LSE Among World's Best in Subject Rankings

LSE has been ranked top three in the UK and fifth in the world for Social Science and Management subjects in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026.
LSE is ranked in the top five globally in four subjects: Geography (2nd); Development Studies (3rd); Social Policy and Administration (4th); and Politics and International Studies (5th).
The School also appeared in the top ten globally for Communication and Media Studies (6th); Economics and Econometrics (6th); Sociology (6th); Accounting and Finance (8th); Anthropology (8th); Philosophy (8th); Law (9th); History (10th) and Marketing (10th).
QS provides independent comparative analysis on the performance of more than 18,300 individual university programmes, taken by students at more than 1700 universities in 100 locations around the world, across 55 academic disciplines.
Commenting on the news, LSE’s Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research) Professor Susana Mourato said:

In the autumn LSE was ranked as the number one university in the UK in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026 and as the number one university in London and fourth in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2026.
