LSE Methodology Alumni Connect with Current MSc Students at Networking Event

Current and former LSE Methodology students attended a networking and panel event on Wednesday, 11 February, designed to inspire and connect the department's student community.
Organised by LSE Careers and the Department of Methodology, around 25 MSc students from MSc Social Research Methods and MSc Applied Social Data Science, joined four alumni in the LSE Alumni Centre. The panellists consisted of Ryan Li, Lily Wilar, Anton Boychenko, and Preslav Tonkov.
Pam Achiume, LSE Careers Consultant, said:
"We are so lucky to have alumni who are willing and able to share their rich insights and stories with our students. Evenings like this help students feel both inspired and encouraged as they think about their next steps and transition into work after their programmes. The evening was truly energising, and the students seemed to really value the opportunity to learn from and mingle with alumni."
Preslav Tonkov, MSc Social Research Methods 2022 graduate, now works as a Senior Advisor for Gallup. He said to students:
"Focus on the things that you're really good at, and find stories about your experience that you can tell coherently and effectively, and don't worry about the rest... focus on those small wins that you can relate to people, that will make you stand out against other candidates."
Lily Wilar, MSc Applied Social Data Science 2024 graduate, now works as a Researcher at the AI Education Policy Institute. She said:
"Take advantage of all of the great teaching, and how strong some of the professors are knowing their subject areas"
