Mathematics PhD Prize - Outstanding Academic Performance

The Department of Mathematics’ PhD Prize for Outstanding Academic Performance was established in 2017 and is awarded annually to recognise exceptional PhD performance by a student completing their studies in the previous academic year.

The award is presented once each academic year, typically in December, with recipients recognised during the winter graduation celebrations.

Eligible submissions will usually consist of doctoral theses; however, to reflect the breadth of outstanding work undertaken by students, other original and promising contributions to research in Mathematics may also be considered.

The prize is not necessarily awarded every year, and in some cases, more than one award may be made.

Nominations are submitted by supervisors, with recipients selected by a faculty panel comprising representatives from all departmental research areas, alongside the Head of Department, the Doctoral Programme Director, and the Deputy Head of Department. (Research)
