Haya Freedman Prize
Dr Haya Freedman, who was a member of the Department for many years until her retirement in 1989, is remembered as an exceptionally talented and dedicated teacher.

Dr Freedman passed away on 19 July 2005. You can read more about her life and work in her obituary. In recognition of her legacy, the Department established the Haya Freedman Prize in her memory.
The prize is awarded annually for the best dissertation submitted by a student on the MSc Applicable Mathematics programme. It consists of £250 and a book selected by the Department, with the recipient chosen by the Sub-Board of Examiners.
The Department hopes the prize serves both as a lasting tribute to Dr Freedman and as recognition of outstanding student achievement.
