Hassan Ali Daoud, MD, is a medical doctor based in Somaliland. He graduated from Amoud University and pursued a Global Surgery Research Fellowship with the Harvard Program in Global Surgery and Social Change. As a passionate advocate for surgical care, Hassan co-founded and led InciSioN Somaliland, the first student surgical network in Somaliland.
Hassan is actively involved in developing Somaliland's National Surgical Obstetrics and Anaesthesia Plan (NSOAP). His expertise and contributions have positioned him as a valuable member of the Technical Working Group of the SADC Region. Additionally, he has collaborated closely on the development of NSOAPs in Namibia.
With his extensive project management skills, Hassan has gained valuable experience while working with the International Committee of the Red Cross. His focus has been on the development of access to sustainable and free prehospital emergency care in conflict-prone settings.
Currently, Hassan serves as the In-country Administrator of the Somaliland Paediatric Access and Clinical Excellence in Surgery - ECHO Programme (SPACES-ECHO). In this role, he is instrumental in shaping the milestones for paediatric surgery as outlined in the Somaliland-NSOAP 10-Year Action Plan.
