About me

Emily O’Neill is a health services researcher working on the development of the Antimicrobial Resistance Accountability Index. Her research focuses on global health policy, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and the rational use of medications.

Emily completed her PhD at Brown University, where she subsequently worked as a Research Associate, conducting research on rational medication use in global contexts, health economics, and the quantitative evaluation of AMR policies. During her time at Brown University, she was awarded a global mobility fellowship to travel to western Kenya to evaluate a novel antimicrobial stewardship program. While in her PhD studies, she continued her clinical practice within an academic medical centre as an infectious disease (ID) clinical pharmacist.

Emily has also earned a BSc in Biomedical Sciences, followed by a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida. She has completed clinical specialisation training in acute care, ID, and antimicrobial stewardship through post-graduate residency and fellowship programs. She has over seven years of clinical experience in the fields of ID and antimicrobial stewardship. Her research goals are to bridge the gap between clinical insights and research methodologies, facilitating their translation into actionable practices that enhance patient outcomes and promote responsible antimicrobial use
