Overview
The State Aid and Subsidies Regulation executive course provides a structured overview of the legal frameworks governing EU State aid and UK subsidy control. It examines the scope of EU Treaty provisions and the subsidies chapter of the EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, alongside the main features of the UK subsidy control regime and recent developments in practice.
Delivered through four intensive online sessions, the course focuses on how public measures such as grants, tax exemptions, and subsidies are assessed under EU and UK law. It addresses public services, taxation (including digital taxes), the principles for assessing compatibility, and the enforcement of subsidy control rules by authorities and courts, including remedies and dispute settlement under the EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement.
By combining the basics of state aid law with more advanced issues, the Course attracts a mixed group of participants, including experienced practitioners. Their contributions based on real-life examples added a practical edge to the topics covered.
