Professor Lars Viellechner

    Lars Viellechner is a professor of public law, in particular constitutional law, constitutional theory, legal philosophy, and transnational law at the University of Bremen in Germany. He is also the director of the Centre of European Law and Politics as well as the vice dean of the faculty of law.

    In the winter term 2026, he will be a Visiting Fellow at LSE Law School. Before, he held visiting positions at the University of Toronto, Sapienza University of Rome, and the European University Institute in Florence, among others.

    He served as a law clerk at the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg and the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany, after studying law at Yale Law School, Humboldt University of Berlin, and Panthéon-Assas University of Paris II.

    His research focuses on constitutional law, comparative law, legal theory and legal sociology, with a special emphasis on the transnationalisation of law.
