Professor Julia Black CBE FBA, Visiting Professor at LSE Law School, has been appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for services to Research in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Professor Black is Warden of Nuffield College and President of the British Academy, the UK’s national academy for humanities and social sciences.
Professor Black commented: "I’m deeply honoured and utterly thrilled to have received this award. The social sciences, humanities and the arts are essential to our understanding and expression of what it is to be human, and integral to our ability to navigate our increasingly complex and volatile world."
