After completing his Masters in Modern History at Durham University in 2007, Simon relocated to Taiwan to experience life overseas, teach English and learn Mandarin.

Since he returned to the UK in 2012, he has taught at the University of Bedfordshire and the University Northampton and focused his career on specialising in Business English and English for Academic Purposes (EAP). During this time, he has written and managed large pre-sessional courses, guest lectured at partner institutions in China and qualified as a CELTA Assistant Course Tutor.

Simon joined LSE in October 2019, and is responsible for coordinating and teaching Discourse & Communication (LN370), Academic Writing (LN991, LN993, LN994) and Pronunciation & Voice I and II (LN957). He is also an Academic Mentor for undergraduate students on the BSc. Language, Culture and Society and International Relations and Chinese programmes.

He is currently studying his doctorate at the University of Reading, investigating the discourse surrounding international students and Higher Education Institutions in the British media.
