About me

My research interests are mainly in Spanish Discourse Analysis and Pragmatics, particularly the use of adverbial expressions and linking words related to registers in academic writing. For my PhD, I explored the metalinguistic meanings and uses of the adverb literally suggesting a new functional and discursive category. I am also interested in pedagogical grammar approaches. I co-created and taught the content module Pedagogical grammar for the University of Barcelona – UNIBA as part of its Master’s Degree in “Teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language” (online course).  Currently, I am researching into classroom dynamics while participating in a project on how to increase spontaneous speaking and motivation using improvisation techniques and activities in Spanish as a Foreign Language at the LSE.

About the Language Centre

LSE is a centre for the study of the social sciences and this is reflected in its Language Centre.

Our courses focus on language and society, encouraging you to learn how to use language in the contexts you would like to live, study and work in. We teach people to speak languages, but also teach about language (socio-linguistics and intercultural communication) and offer a range of courses on literature and society.

We offer English for Academic Purposes programmes, BSc programmes a range of undergraduate degree courses that can be taken as part of a degree and a range of language options that can be taken outside of a degree programme. All programmes and courses relate language study and support to the fields of interest of social science students.

The Language Centre is part of LSE’s Academic and Professional Development Division.
