Study abroad at Universidad de Valladolid

As part of your BSc Language, Culture and Society programme

Life at Universidad de Valladolid

The University of Valladolid (UVA) is a public university in the autonomous region of Castile and Leon. Founded in 1241, it is one of the oldest higher education institutions in the world.

Valladolid is the capital and economic centre of the autonomous region of Castilla y León. It has a population of 300,000 people and has excellent transport links with Madrid.

UVA has four campuses located in Valladolid, Palencia, Segovia and Soria. Valladolid is the main campus, and this is where you will study during the year abroad.

Students will be initially based in the Facultad de Comercio, which is located in the city centre. Shopping, bars, restaurants and entertainment will be within easy reach on foot.

Study during your year abroad

Students will take four academic modules and the Spanish for Erasmus students each semester.

Each academic module will involve 2-3 contact hours per week and the Spanish for Erasmus language courses will involve 4 contact hours per week. This is across 20 weeks divided in two semesters and exclusive of an examination period.

Students will be able to pick their academic options from different faculties and departments, from a list of appropriate choices agreed by UVA and LSE.

Students are expected to attend all classes regularly and be active participants.

Please remember this important information from your programme regulations:

Students must pass all assessments set by UVA in order to be eligible for the award of the degree.

Where a student fails an assessment they will be provided a resit either at UVA at the end of the year abroad or when they are back in London at the start of the final year of the programme.
