About me

Dr Florian Schäfer is LSE Fellow in the Department of International Development at the London School of Economics. Florian’s main research interests are the political economy of industrialisation and agrarian change, the development of entrepreneurship and labour markets, and empirical research methods. At the moment he pursuing research into labour dynamics in export-oriented manufacturing industries in Africa. He has worked as consultant for the World Bank, FAO and GIZ. Much of his research focuses on Ethiopia, where Florian has lived and worked for several years.

Florian obtained a PhD in Development Studies at SOAS, University of London. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Development Studies from the LSE and a joint honours degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Bristol.
