Executive MSc Application Portal Maintenance FAQ

Every year, the Graduate Application form will be closed during a short period of time for essential maintenance. For 24/25 entry, this year's mantenance will take place from Friday 27th September 2024, with an expected reopening on Tuesday 8th October 2024. This will impact current in-progress application, so please read the details below carefully.

My thinking became much more critical and rigorous. Also it’s very enjoyable to be in London, to be with other students from around the world, and the quality of the teaching is exceptional.

Dr Mark Sopher, Executive MSc Health Economics, Outcomes and Management 2017

1. How will the application form closure affect me?

  • Your current in-progress application will be permanently deleted unless you take prompt action.
  • During the closure period, you will not be able to access the application form.

2. What can I do to avoid being affected by the refresh and closure?

  • Finish and submit your completed application before Friday 27th September 2024. Admissions are on a rolling basis, so early submission will maximise your chance of acceptance.
  • Allocate sufficient time to complete your application, as it involves several steps which can take longer than expected. A full overview of the steps required is available on the following webpage: https://www.lse.ac.uk/study-at-lse/Graduate/Applicants/The-admissions-process

3. What if I submit my application before Friday 27th September 2024, but I am still waiting on references to be submitted?

  • If you submit your application before the refresh and closure, it will be stored safely, even if your referees have not yet submitted their references.
  • Inform your referees that the reference upload link will no longer work. Instead, they should email their references directly to the Graduate Admissions Office at graduate.references@lse.ac.uk from their institutional email addresses.

4. What if I am unable to finish and submit my application before the refresh and closure?

  • Save copies of your progress offline so that you can easily re-start and re-upload the information once the portal re-opens.

You can work on several steps offline during the closure period. This could include obtaining copies of your past certificates/transcripts, ensuring your CV is updated, working on your statement of academic purpose, and identifying two suitable individuals who are willing to act as referees for your application.

  • Consider whether you already meet the LSE English Language requirement, and if not, how you plan to meet this. This does not need to be met at the point of your application submission but needs to be met (with evidence) as soon as possible before the start of your programme.

5. What if I am unable to finish and submit my application before the refresh and closure, but my referees have already submitted their references?

  • You will need to re-start your application after the portal reopens. You will also have to inform your referees that they will need to re-upload their references once the portal is back online. To avoid this complication, we strongly recommend completing your application before the closure.
  • Alternatively, you can ask your referees to email their references directly to the Graduate Admissions Office at graduate.references@lse.ac.uk from their institutional email addresses. This way, their references will be saved and can be attached to your new application when the portal reopens.

6. What additional considerations are there if I have applied, or plan to apply, for a scholarship (e.g., European Society of Cardiology scholarship for the Executive MSc Health Economics, Outcomes, and Management in Clinical Sciences)?

  • Finish and submit your LSE application before Friday 27th September 2024 to give yourself the best chance of consideration.
  • Ensure that your scholarship application is submitted by the deadline specified by the provider. For the ESC Scholarship, the deadline is provided on the following webpage: https://www.escardio.org/Education/Postgraduate-Programmes/Courses-Health-Economics
  • If you are unable to submit your LSE application before Friday 27th September 2024, aim to complete it as soon as possible after the portal re-opens. We also recommend that you contact the scholarship provider to ask if they are still able to consider your scholarship application; their ability to consider it may depend on their internal deadlines.

7. Who should I contact if I have questions?

There are several contacts available to you:
Graduate Admissions Office (GAO)

The GAO can support you with a range of questions, including how to apply, what’s involved in your application and next steps after receiving your offer.

What our executive students say

Director, Intestinal & Multi-visceral Transplant, Professor of Surgery & Pediatrics, Mount Sinai Medical Center

The LSE/NICE Executive Program has turned out to be a very stimulating mix of very well-organized classes and seminars taking us rapidly and seamlessly from the basics to real-world challenges. The pace is fast but with abundant time for discussion. The mix of LSE faculty and NICE’s technical experts is particularly valuable as it allows for translating theory into practice. The best aspect of the class though is the benefit of the unique perspectives from my truly global classmates who each brings his or her own unique experiences to bear on the discussions.

Pierre Roca
External Relations Officer, World Health Organization

The excellent courses and the intensive work with the dissertation opened new perspectives and gave me new skills that helped me transition to a new phase of my career. After working in the pharmaceutical industry, I moved on to work in the United Nations system and also held a position in the European Commission. Furthermore, I expanded my network of relevant health economics and policy experts and I made many new friends with whom I am still in contact.
