There is much talk these days of the demise of the “liberal international order” – a set of universal values seen to be rooted in the Enlightenment, guiding international relations.
But our Visiting Senior Fellow Dr Thomas Aubrey argues that Isaiah Berlin’s version of liberalism, rooted in the Romantic tradition, offers a more authentic, pluralist vision of liberalism, calling for tolerance of alternative values.
